If you’re looking to experience a city rich in history, culture, unforgettable sights and attractions and a bustling, yet welcoming atmosphere, plan a trip to Boston. Located in Massachusetts, this city is the capital of the state and is also regarded as the unofficial capital of New England. In addition to being a bustling metropolis, Boston is one of the oldest cities in the United States and is steeped in history.

"USS Constitution Museum"Founded in 1630 by some of the first settlers to the country, Boston was the site of many historical events that helped to shape the founding of the United States. In the 1700s, Boston Harbor was a major port between the colonies and Great Britain and the city played a major role in the colonies rebellion against the British. It was here that the Boston Tea Party took place, a revolt that helped to ignite the Revolutionary War. Paul Revere rode the streets of Boston warning the colonists of the impending arrival of the British and the start of the war.

"Boston Public Garden"As a city steeped with so much history, you can be sure to find countless historical sites to explore. The Freedom Trail, a red brick path, runs throughout the city and leads to 16 historic sites that played a role in shaping the United States, including Boston Common, the Massachusetts State House, the Paul Revere House and the USS Constitution. Walking along the Freedom Path, you’ll learn about the rich history of Boston and the role that each of the sites had in Revolution and the founding of America. Visit Monument Square and explore the magnificent Bunker Hill Monument. This towering obelisk reaches 221 feet into the sky and pays tribute to the famous Battle of Bunker Hill; a monumental event between the British and the Colonies during the Revolutionary War.

In addition to being such an important historical city, Boston is also a cultural hub, not only for Massachusetts, but for all of New England. Renowned for academics, Boston is the site of many renowned colleges and universities, including the oldest university in the country, Harvard University, as well as Boston University, Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts. This New England city is also home to many performing arts venues and companies, where you can enjoy music and performances. Some of the featured venues and companies include the Boston Opera House, the Boston Ballet, the Cutler Majestic Theater, the Colonial Theater and the Orpheum Theater. You can view many famous works of art and artifacts at the several Boston museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Science, the Isabelle Stewart Gardner Museum, the Boston Children’s "Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum"Museum and the USS Constitution Museum. If you’re a sports enthusiast, then you will appreciate the many sports teams and sporting events that the city has to offer. Of the many things that are important to this New England city, sports are certainly among the top. Here, you will find a host of professionally sporting teams in a variety of sporting fields, such as the Boston Red Sox baseball, Celtics basketball and New England Patriots football. You will feel the pulse of the people that make up this city and their strong sense of pride when you attend one of the sporting events. If you want to soak up the local culture, there are several restaurants, pubs, lounges and festivals where you can meet and greet Boston natives.

Want to get out and enjoy the great outdoor while you are visiting Boston? There are so many ways that you can get some fresh air in Boston. The city is home to several parks, including Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden, where you can stroll along tree-lined walkways and explore flora and fauna. At the Franklin Park Zoo, you can enjoy the outdoors while exploring many different species of wildlife. If you enjoy golfing, there are plenty of opportunities for you to practice your stroke at one of the renowned Boston golf courses.
